Today I received a sad note from Lucien, a client. In the fall he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, though the prognosis was good as the doctors found it early. The initial round of radiation treatments didn’t get it all and he so he needed to undergo a second round. Now there is concern that it may have metastasized, but the doctors are still positive.

Lucien reports being depressed and worn down by the treatments. He apologized for not replying to my note at Christmas but didn’t feel up to doing much till recently. He says he needs to undergo some tests next week but his doctor has told him that he is recommending chemo.

On the bright side, his youngest son has returned from Costa Rica to assist him. Lucien’s family dynamics are a mess and his other son and daughter doesn’t speak with him. In his note he seemed quite happy that at least he has one good relationship.

I wish Lucien well and wonders what can cause his other children to not come to his aide knowing his state of health. Best wishes to him.
