Today I cleared my schedule as I had something I needed to do, join the pro-Tibet protests of the Olympic torch relay. We were near the Hotel de Ville and we could see the pro-human rights banner on the building. But the torch didn’t reach us, as the earlier protests forced the authorities to cancel the event. At least that’s what I was told; as it was so chaotic it was difficult to ascertain what was happening.

Good show! We had some folks who did same to the Golden gate Bridge. I think more folks will become aware of the issue just following the poor buggers with the torch around alone! Cheers & Thanks for the extra efforts! 'VJ'

And I'm amused that people will protest what happens thousands of miles away while the situation in the Arabic / African ghettoes which surround French cities is a disgusting betrayal of European ideals. So much easier, isn't it, to point the finger at China than at one's self. And the futility of protesting at China - does anyone think they'll listen? - compared to the harsh reality of France's mistreatment of its minorities draws a stark contrast: so much easier to protest that which can't be changed than to fight in your own country for change which actually might occur.
