It’s a nice morning, mostly sunny, but cool. The café is bustling with neighbors catching up with their friends. Some like myself peering at a computer screen, others with the newspapers spread out in front of them. When someone comes in most of us look up to see who it is and inevitably a greeting is shouted.

The blogs of escorts are often excused of sugarcoating the profession, talking about the exciting, glamorous part and ignoring the bad, particularly with regard to emotional damage. Frequently those making the charge have firmly set opinions and little to no primary source knowledge of the profession or lump all forms of prostitution in the same pile.
Though it’s not a completely unfair charge, I don’t see a conspiracy to hide a truth. On the contrary I feel that the escort blogs which address the pros and cons of the profession are honest; it is just a difference of perspective and the writers recognize that there are tradeoffs with everything in life. But a differing perspective from someone who has lived that life is valuable.

Being an Escort is a blog by Amber, a former prostitute, who is definitely not promoting the profession, stating, “I share my stories candidally {sic} and openly in the hopes that women considering the easy money will make a different choice.” The blog reads honestly and based on the comments resonates with some who have a shared experience. There are points when she seems too wedded to her beliefs and appears to deny the veracity of others experience. A quibble that I have is that she describes herself as being a high-end escort, but the description of the milieu of her professional life doesn’t strike me as high-end as much good, solid, by the hour service.

A while ago I came across this
site. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of activity, but it does seem to attract a pretty naïve crowd that I suspect would benefit from reading Amber’s blog.

The irregular, floating, vintage erotic film continues. In trying to find something interesting I came across
Working Girls. Having never worked for an in-call agency, I can’t vouch for the movies’ accuracy, but it rings true. It’s available from Netflix.

I've ran across a couple of blogs which described it pretty well.

One said
"...once you are tainted, you'll always be tainted.

Like coffee stains, bleach would never work quite the same.

Once you realise how fast money can be made by opening your 'orifice' . (Selling your diginity) You'll turn to it when its much needed."

The other said this:
"...the thing that makes me a whore is asking for it. If you choose it, it’s a present. Even if it's cash."

And that about sums it up. Some of them want relationships so they can get out of the business, but then once that's started, then they want a five-figure monthly allowance.

Mostly they're just hustlers.

Not knowing but interested in learning, I appreciate your comments, Kim. I always hope that women make choices freely. Like all lines of work, there are positive and negative aspects, and I hope that choices can change if women desire to change. I found this recent article interesting.

K: I'm doing fine. Thanks for asking.

Amber's blog is sad. It is always terrible when a person needs to do something that she knows that she'll loath, but due to the responsibility that she feels for others, needs to proceed.

A former prostitute once told me that starting is easy, its the quitting that's hard. You want a stable, comfortable life for your family and that takes money. There's this despicable way of making the money and after you go down that road and you keep going down it because there seems to be no way out.

Amber seems responsible and normal, I hope she can get on with her life.

PM: That was a weird article. It said more about the author than his subject. My feeling he missed a chance to do something interesting.

Yes, very amusing pic, I've seen it before, but I don't know where.

But I've come to the conclusion that the world is filled with whores. It just all a matter of who you're working on and for what & why. Most are perfectly willing to sell their souls for the proper dollar amount. Our Dear Sec. Treasury Paulson earned a half a Billion dollars in his time as a corporate chief. I don't know exactly what he did for all that moola, but as Balzac said 'behind every great fortune lies a great crime'. So to my mind, the simple direct transaction of transitory pleasure for a set dollar amount just happens to be the among the most honest and direct of these. The economy of the world is not put at stake, people do not need to be put out of their houses en mass, and you generally go home happier than when you came. It is and remains hazardous for all the time honored reasons, but it need not remain so if you're well informed & cautious.

Again I fail to see the great crime in this. It can be destructive to be certain, and mostly personally so for Some providers. But as jobs go, it's a middling one. Racier than most, demanding at times in it's athletic & aesthetic requirements, but it's durability and appeal is evidently undeniable down the ages. But there's an infinite variety of whores, only a few will provide useful pleasure if you have the need or fortune to visit. The rest? They're working in media, for or against the Government, in industry or the corporate world. Those are the truly dangerous whores! Cheers & Good Luck, 'VJ'
