Family and friends formed a circle around the brides and l'officier de l'état civil. The worry that the parent's of one would not attend was unneeded, their love for their daughter was stronger than whatever religious-based disagreement they had regarding same-sex marriage.

Anne Marie glanced back at me, both of us in tears, before taking Hannah's hands. The words were spoken the pronouncement made and our group erupted in cheers. The parents embraced their children and the once reluctant father approached his daughter-in-law and told her how happy and proud he was to welcome her into the family.

The wedding party and guests adjourned to a neighborhood cafe, where additional friends joined the celebration. The brides left this morning for Lesbos.

Oh, and did they receive teasing for where they chose to honeymoon.
